Computeractive, the UK’s best-selling technology magazine has gone global with the unveiling of its first app for the iPad.
The app builds on Computeractive's reputation for jargon-free, simple clear advice in plain English and gives users the chance to read the latest technology news and product reviews with a tap of the finger.
Computeractive for the iPad is specifically designed for a tablet interface. Each page is optimised to take full advantage of its large, clear display, with components that can be hidden and revealed by the user to make the reading experience smoother and more intuitive. Video demonstrations and animated step-by-step workshops guide readers through projects and help them understand the pros and cons of new products. Paired with Computeractive’s plain-English approach to technology, the app will help to make technology accessible to all.
Readers will benefit from:
• Independent product reviews that empower consumers to make informed buying decisions in the UK and US
• Projects that explain ways to get more value from the reader’s computer and software
• Quick hints and tips to help readers to overcome obstacles
• Problem-solving Q&As on a wide range of hardware and software topics
• Analysis and comment on new products, services and industry developments
• A Jargon Buster that demystifies techno babble.
The first download of Computeractive’s app is free with forthcoming versions costing £2.49. A subscription to Computeractive on the iPad is also available for the special rate of £4.99 for three months, working out at three downloads for the price of two. The Computeractive app can be downloaded through iTunes via www.getcomputeractive.co.uk/ipad.
Paul Allen, editor of Computeractive said: “The Computeractive app will give iPad users clear and independent advice about all aspects of computers and the web. Our step-by-step approach is ideally suited to the iPad and will enable readers to follow our projects and problem solving tips with ease. Our product reviews give clear opinions about the practical value of hardware and software, and focus on real-world use, not technology for its own sake.
"Computeractive has been the most popular home computing magazine for more than a decade, and our app for the iPad will bring our distinctive, no-nonsense approach to technology to a wider audience.”
To celebrate the launch of this app, Computeractive is running a competition to win an Apple TV (worth £99) or one of three runners-up prizes of an iPad Leather Smart Cover (worth £59). For further details go to www.getcomputeractive.co.uk/ipad
