Commercial Training Programme
Our Commercial Training Programme offers a comprehensive introduction to an exciting career in media sales. The combination of on-the-job experience and a structured classroom-based training programme will build confidence and your sales skills.
If you are a graduate looking to start a career in sales or if you are currently in work and are looking for a career rather than just a job, this scheme is for you.
We guarantee to invest in every one of our employees to help them achieve their goals and are committed to providing our people with a positive and supportive environment in which they can flourish.
Jesse Thompson started as a sales executive three years ago and is now a manager in our Risk division:
"I started at Incisive in November 2008, and, while never having any real sales experience, I was given a chance on the New Subscriptions team.
After finishing University a few months before, I was struggling to figure out what I to do for a career, and it wasn't until a friend suggested I try sales that I even went for an interview.
I entered into a market that had been hit hard by the financial crisis, and in some ways this helped, as I wasn't used to there being an ‘easier' time – so I just got on with my job.
I really enjoyed my role and working with the team, and it always helps when you are hitting monthly targets – but when a role arose on the Risk & OpRisk advertising team, I put myself forward and got the job.
Progressing to the advertising department was a big change as my responsibility had suddenly increased – and being the sole person in Europe on OpRisk meant if I wasn't performing, it would be clear to everyone.
I enjoyed the pressure, and the magazine has been performing well. This increase in responsibility came with positives too: it meant I have had the opportunity of attending award nights, having some very nice client lunches, and going on a number of international business trips.
All in all I would recommend this company and department to anybody interested in sales – it has a clear road of progression, and if you perform, you will be rewarded.
I have been at the company for three years, and at 25, I am relocating to New York to work out of our Manhattan offices."
So, do you want to be part of one of the most successful award-winning media companies? Are you driven, with a passion for developing a career in media sales. We will give you first-class development and the opportunity to contribute and thrive in the future success of our exceptional company.
Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for selling our products from across our business divisions. You will be expected to grow revenue from a base of current clients by developing cross-media solutions and be required to source new business in print, online, and face-to-face.
You will be expected to hit targets on a daily and weekly basis based on factors such as the number of effective calls, bookings made, and revenue targets. Our environment is fast-paced, hard-working, but most of all, great fun.
If you are ambitious, confident and a results-driven individual, with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and negotiate, then get in touch. You must be a graduate or an individual with a genuine interest in sales, prepared to start at the bottom but with a desire to learn and grow.
Although our trainees are initially based in the UK, there will be future opportunities for travel and relocation to our international offices.
