Incisive Media is seeking an editor for Professional Adviser, one of the company’s top brands and the UK’s leading title for financial advisers and paraplanners.

The editor of PA will be the ‘face’ and the ‘voice’ of the brand, and will be responsible for its editorial coverage across all platforms – digital, social, print and live. The editor will lead a three-strong team of journalists and work with colleagues in sales, marketing and product to evolve PA’s market-leading position.

Job Title: Editor
Salary: DOE, plus Bonus
Location: London (Covent Garden), United Kingdom
Type Of Employment: Full-time
Function: Editorial

The editorship of PA would ideally suit the editor of a smaller title who is seeking a bigger role, or a deputy editor/section head who is looking for their first editorship. Extensive experience is not essential; talent, resilience and a capacity for hard-work certainly is.

The editor will report to the group editorial director, with a dotted-line to the Managing Director of Incisive Media’s finance division.

Incisive Media is an award-winning information provider, serving a wide range of financial, business technology and professional services markets globally. As PPA’s B2B Digital Publisher of the Year for three years running we are an entrepreneurial, creative, digital-facing organisation on the cutting edge of media with a flexible-working culture. Incisive Media is a fantastic place to progress your career.

What you will be doing

We are looking for an editor with a track-record of writing and commissioning high-calibre editorial content that is valuable to professional audiences such as the financial advisers who read PA.

The Editor will need the ability to represent the brand within the FA community, host PA’s own events, and build a network of senior industry contacts. They will also need to be able to lead a team of three journalists and develop original, hard-hitting editorial content that sets PA apart from its rivals and helps FAs and paraplanners do their jobs better and advance their career.

Day-to-day, the editor will be responsible for:

  • Leading the PA editorial team and being the main point of contact with the commercial and marketing teams
  • Be the main frontperson at PA’s events, and the main presenter on video and podcasts
  • Ensure that PA’s editorial content is of the highest-possible standard, across all platforms
  • Use their network of senior contacts and market-knowledge to develop fresh editorial ideas to build a highly-engaged audience and provide a platform for new products and services
  • Maintain a keen eye on the competition to ensure PA is always at least one step ahead

 What we value

  • Proven leadership skills in a senior editorial role
  • Evidence of personal dynamism, creativity, energy and passion
  • A learning-mindset – always looking to develop their experience and skills, as well as those of their team
  • Personal values in line with the company’s culture: teamwork, collaboration, inclusion, integrity, respect, fairness, consistency
  • Market-knowledge – or the ability to acquire it quickly
  • The ability to establish good relations with people quickly
  • The ability to represent a brand like PA in a public arena – eg speaking from a podium, chairing live debates
  • The ability to present on video and audio
  • A strong work ethic
  • Resilience
  • A positive outlook
  • A good sense of humour
