Post and Insurance Age journalists win accolades from industry association
Post news editor Callum Brodie won a hat-trick of awards at the British Insurance Brokers’ Association journalist of the year awards, including the top prize.
He won scoop of the year and the trade news award, as well as the overall Biba journalist of the year prize.
In what proved a successful day for the Incisive Media insurance titles, Rachael Adams won the online award and Insurance Age editor Emmanuel Kenning won best profile/interview.
Elsewhere, Post reporter Katie Mariner was runner-up in the trade news category, Insurance Age reporter Ida Axling was highly commended in the most promising newcomer award and Incisive Media content director Jonathan Swift came second in the online award.
Former Post and Insurance Age editor and regular contributor David Worsfold also won the trade feature prize, 31 years after winning his first Biba journalism award whilst at Insurance Age.
Post editor Stephanie Denton said: “These awards are testament to the hard work that Post journalists put into delivering timely and relevant news and analysis to the insurance market and Callum, Katie and Rachael are all deserving winners.”
Jonathan Swift added: “Following the two awards at the Headlinemoney event, these Biba journalism awards again highlight the strength on the Incisive insurance titles.
“Most importantly they illustrate that the team’s strengths lie not in one area, but across the board from news analysis to breaking scoops; from in-depth interviews to using the online medium to connect with its audiences.”
The Biba journalism awards differ from many others in that they are judged by senior broking figures and other key people in the market including Ashton West OBE and Heather Wheeler MP, the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Insurance and Financial Services.
