Incisive Media’s Post Magazine scored a double victory at this week’s prestigious Headlinemoney Awards in London.
News editor Callum Brodie (pictured above left) was acclaimed as the General Insurance Journalist of the year (B2B) with one judge remarking his “three submissions were different in style and format” but “each had the hallmark of an exclusive”. Another added: “With [RSA boss] Stephen Hester, he bagged the biggest CEO interview in the business [with Stephen Hester, RSA Group] which must say a lot for Callum’s tenacity.”
Callum pipped colleague Katie Mariner (pictured above right, Reporter on Post, to the prize. A year after winning the Rising Star (B2B) award at the same event, she was highly commended in the General Insurance journalist category.
Post was also successful in the Best Use of Social Media (B2B) category, beating out the likes of City AM and FT Adviser. The judges here commented: “This clever four-pronged assault on social media including not just Twitter and Facebook, but LinkedIn and YouTube, makes it the standout submission this year”. Another said: “There’s a great balance of information, updates and personality.”
Jonathan Swift, the insurance division content director, commented: “Callum was a worthy winner in the GI journalist category for his sterling work both in print and increasingly online where he has broken exclusives such as Markerstudy’s acquisition of the Chaucer personal lines business, as well as his high-profile success with the Hester interview and follow-ups.
“The fact that the judges mentioned his victory was a narrow one, highlights the progress Katie has made in the last year. If you want to see what a resourceful journalist she is you should check out her coverage of the aftermath of the New Zealand earthquake which included both features and a documentary video. All done when back home for a family wedding.”
Swift added: “The social media prize was especially pleasing and great testament to the efforts the team have put in here over the last 12-18 months, led by editor Stephanie Denton and commissioning editor Rachael Adams (pictured above centre), who have been at the forefront of a refreshed and targeted strategy. You only have to look at the recent social media activity whilst we were at the British Insurance Brokers’ Association conference in Manchester to see what an engaged and dynamic team we have on Post.”
