AOP Digital Awards: Incisive Media adds another five nominations to its 2020 shortlist tally

We have made the cut in the following categories this year: innovation of the year, Computing Delta; B2B editor of the year, BusinessGreen’s editor-in-chief James Murray; two nominations in the B2B brand of the year category, CRN and BusinessGreen; and a further nomination in the employer of the year category.

Incisive Media has traditionally had a strong showing at these awards, and holds the B2B publisher of the year honours for a record four years.

“We are delighted to be shortlisted in the AOP awards this year, and for this recognition from our peers,” said CEO Jonathon Whiteley. “The range of categories we are shortlisted in demonstrates how much we are doing across the business to develop our products for users and clients, and this is a testament to the innovation and hard work of our people.”

Incisive Media kicked off its industry awards season with wins for CRN in the B2B commercial team and B2B brand of the year category at the Campaign Publishing Awards on June 17.

The business has also secured four shortlist nods at the 2020 PPA Awards: CRN, business information product of the year; James Murray, editor of the year; Computing Delta, innovation of the year; and the business has also made the shortlist for sustainability initiative of the year.

The 2020 AOP Awards will take place virtually on Thursday, October 15. To see the full shortlist go to

CRN fends off the FT to score a double win at the 2020 Campaign Publishing Awards

It is Incisive’s maiden sortie into this awards programme, formerly known as the British Media Awards.

CRN saw off some tough competition, including the Financial Times, to score the wins, following a stellar 2019 performance by the brand.

The 2020 Campaign Publishing Awards were held online across two afternoons, on June 17 and 18.

“This is a real morale boost for the CRN team,” said Incisive Media’s technology division managing director Alan Loader. “Both the commercial team and the brand overall had a fantastic year in 2019 and I’m over the moon that their hard work has been recognised by these wins. And it’s very special to go toe-to-toe with the FT and come out on top.”

Rounding off an impressive 2019 performance, Incisive has also secured four shortlist nods at the 2020 PPA Awards: CRN, business information product of the year; Business Green editor-in-chief James Murray, editor of the year; Computing Delta, innovation of the year; and the business has also made the shortlist for sustainability initiative of the year.

The 2020 PPA Awards will take place virtually on June 30.

Incisive Media shortlisted for four gongs at the PPA Awards 2020

CRN, the leading news source for the UK IT Channel, has secured a nomination in the business information product of the year category. Business Green’s acclaimed editor-in-chief James Murray joins a sterling line-up for the editor of the year category, and Computing Delta – the new market intelligence service for CIOs and IT leaders – has scooped a much-deserved place on the innovation of the year shortlist.

Finally, after making waves throughout the event and media industry with their mission to become a truly sustainable business, Incisive Media has made the shortlist for sustainability initiative.

The four shortlist nominations highlight the enviable product portfolio, talent and strategic direction of the business and all entries firmly deserve their place as finalists.

“I am delighted to see us shortlisted in these categories at the PPA Awards 2020, because now really is the time to celebrate our dedicated employees and our market-leading products,” said Incisive Media CEO Jonathon Whiteley. “The nominations are testament to the hard work and innovation that takes place across our business to deliver outstanding services and journalism. To be nominated for sustainability initiative means so much as we are truly on a mission to become a fully sustainable business.”

The PPA Awards 2020 will take place as a virtual ceremony at 4:30 BST on June 30 instead of the usual gala dinner at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. To see the full shortlist go to

Channel Awards crowned best tech ceremony at the Awards Awards

The channel’s equivalent of the Oscars, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last November, won the Best Technology Related Awards Event at a ceremony in London on May 17, beating competition from three other shortlisted events.

The 2018 Channel Awards saw more than 1500 of the channel’s elite descend on the Battersea Evolution, London, for a nineties-themed show hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, and a performance by Judge Jules followed by an after party at Club Tropicana in London’s Covent Garden.

“I am thrilled that the Channel Awards has been recognised at the Awards Awards,” said Incisive Media events managing director Simone Broadhurst. “This is our largest awards event and is a major undertaking to deliver. I am delighted that the team has received this richly-deserved recognition for all its hard work.”

The Awards Awards judges praised the Channel Awards for the strong theme woven into all aspects of the night, as well as for exceeding its commercial targets. They added that secondary sponsorship opportunities added value to both guests and bottom line.

The Channel Awards will return to the Battersea Evolution on November 14, with the deadline for entries 5pm on July 12. For more information go to

Incisive Media to launch Channel Partner Insight (CPI) for the European and US channel communities

Channel Partner Insight will provide leaders of resellers, distributors, MSPs and other specialist consultancies with exclusive analysis of the fast-changing channel sector in Europe and the US, helping them to make smarter business decisions.

Publisher Matt Dalton said: “When we researched the European and US markets, channel executives told us time and again that, at a time of great change, what they needed was a fresh, trustworthy source of market intelligence to help them seize the opportunities ahead of them.”

“As publishers of the market-leading UK brand CRN and former publishers of Channelnomics in Europe and the US, we are ideally placed to deliver the kind of independent and reliable insights they require on a daily basis. And so Channel Partner Insight, or CPI, was born.”

The title will be edited by experienced channel journalist Josh Budd, who was previously editor of ChannelnomicsEU. He will be supported by an editorial team based in the UK and the US – including another former ChannelnomicsEU journalist, Nima Green – and working closely with the London-based CRN team led by editor Doug Woodburn.

Under Budd’s leadership, ChannelnomicsEU pioneered the launch of detailed profiles of Europe’s top channel players in its annual European Elite report and Top 30 Distributor rankings, as well as exclusive interviews with leading channel executives.

All of this high-value content will form part of CPI’s coverage of the European scene, as well as analysis of new and growing medium-sized players across the continent, focusing on those who are innovating and driving change in the market.

CPI will also provide channel executives with fresh analysis of the MSP community on both sides of the Atlantic, through a dedicated hub on the site, identifying the players who are successfully shifting to the cloud and as-a-service business models. Incisive Media has strong experience of serving the US MSP sector as the publisher of ChannelnomicsUS until December 2018.

In addition to the daily insights on CPI, the title will also stage conferences on topics such as managed services and security, which Incisive Media already run annually in New York. These events are designed to connect executives from across the European and US MSP markets and share best practice.

CPI will also host awards programmes such as the New York-based MSP Awards, honouring those companies and individuals who are winning in a rapidly changing and disrupted market, and creating new heroes for the industry to follow.

Budd commented: “I couldn’t be more excited about the launch of Channel Partner Insight. It will give us the opportunity to provide high-quality journalism for European channel leaders while also taking a uniquely transatlantic perspective on the market. In particular, there is a tremendous need for a fresh perspective on the US MSP sector, which is undoubtedly a dynamic and fast-changing part of the channel ecosystem.”

The launch date for CPI will be announced in early January.
