BusinessGreen’s Madeleine Cuff wins national sustainable journalism award

Cuff triumphed from a four-strong shortlist that included writers from The Scotsman, Business & Innovation magazine, and Money Observer.

The judges said: “She is able to not just deliver the facts but she also provides conclusions. She provided real insight into what she was investigating.”

Cuff’s entry included a long-form analysis of the challenges of overcoming the environmental damage caused by plastics, an extended piece of on-the-ground reportage on the changing face of the Brazilian energy industry, and the inside story of how telecoms giant BT is getting tough on sustainability.

Press Gazette’s British Journalism Awards for specialist media were launched this year to honour great journalism in specialist b2b titles and specialists working in the national and local media.

BusinessGreen editor James Murray said: “I am delighted that Maddie’s excellent journalism has been recognised at these new national awards. She has the priceless ability of making sense of complex subjects and making them relevant for our readers, as her submission amply demonstrates. She has also embraced the challenge of producing genuine digital journalism, using video and smart graphics to illuminate her stories.”
