Computing launches Tech Impact campaign to showcase IT sector’s environmental initiatives

Climate change is causing disruption around the world, affecting supply chains, legislation and lives. These changes are only set to become more dramatic as time goes on, and technology has a part to play in mitigating or stopping the worst effects.

In light of the changes the world is facing, Computing has launched its Tech Impact campaign, to ensure IT professionals stay up to date on major green IT developments and announcements. And the brand launches its inaugural Tech Impact conference in Q1 2022 to inform and educate senior IT leaders.

Computing’s Tech Impact campaign draws attention to the climate challenges we face, and highlights and honours those end-users and vendors working to save the planet using technology. These include Microsoft, Google, Subak, Rackspace and Octopus Energy, whose work has already been highlighted in the campaign.

How do you define sustainability in IT and technology? How can I make my organisation more sustainable? What does a sustainable supply chain look like? How will efforts to become more sustainable impact my organisation’s performance? Computing’s Tech Impact conference will answer these questions and more by unpacking and exploring the diverse approaches organisations can take to meet sustainability targets.

Alan Loader, managing director of the Enterprise Technology Division at Incisive Media, said: “Solving climate change is one of the most important challenges the world faces. The tech sector thrives on disruption and innovation, aspects sorely needed in this generational challenge. Computing’s Tech Impact campaign provides the platform to showcase what the IT sector is already doing and how we can move faster together.”
