Award success for Professional Pensions editor Jonathan Stapleton

The dinner took place at The Great Hall, Lincoln’s Inn, London on Thursday, 14 November, and the award was presented by SPP president Paul McGlone. Vincent Franklin – star of In The Thick of It and co-founder of the pension scheme communication consultancy Quietroom – delivered the after-dinner speech.

Stapleton was recognised for his outstanding contribution to pensions journalism in 2019, voted by the society’s members.

Commenting on his win, Stapleton said: “I am honoured to have won this award and would like to thank the SPP and its members for all the support they have given to both myself and the Professional Pensions team over the past year.”

The gong is the latest in a string of awards for Professional Pensions journalists and follows the success of PP news editor James Phillips at the 2019 Willis Towers Watson Media Awards, where he won the trade media pensions journalist of the year. PP was also successful at the Kames Capital Journalism Awards, where took the Institutional Team of the Year silverware.

The SPP is a representative body for occupational pension scheme advisers and providers and was launched in 1958 as the Society of Pension Consultants.
